I’ve read Mr. Fontaine’s chapter with care and I’m convinced of the necessity of IT and it is true that it is often seen as a necessary evil. The challenge we face as a manufacturing organization is to put as much effort and resources in the maintenance and improvement of IT as we put into our production equipment. It is essential to complete one or two projects at once by incorporating short projects with quick and tangible results. We must collect on small victories to help us get mobilization on large projects. I often use our health as a comparison; we often think we’re invincible as long as our system works.
